50 Years of Printing, One Thing Hasn’t Changed

– From 1976 to Today: How Tex-Tryk Keeps Printing Personal
50 years ago, Tex-Tryk began as a small family-run printing business in Aalborg. Since then, the world of printing has changed dramatically. Traditional printing and screen printing have evolved into modern textile printing, with technologies such as DTF opening up new possibilities for businesses, organisations and individuals.
But while the technology has changed, one thing has remained the same: the personal service.
Today, Tex-Tryk is still a family business, now run by Thomas and his wife Linda. Their approach is simple: do good work, keep your word and help customers find the solution that works best for them.
From its beginnings in 1976 to the technology of today, this is the story of how Tex-Tryk has grown, adapted and continued to put people at the centre of printing.

– Where It All Began: Tex-Tryk Since 1976
For Thomas, Tex-Tryk has never been just a place of work. His connection to the company began long before he became one of the people running it. He grew up around the business his parents had built, giving him a close-up view of what it meant to run a family company.
Over the years, that connection naturally developed into a role within the business. Today, Thomas and his wife Linda are responsible for carrying Tex-Tryk forward, bringing their own perspectives while staying connected to the values that shaped the company from the beginning.
Being family-owned also means that the business feels personal in a very real sense. When customers are unhappy, there is no passing the responsibility on to someone else. As Thomas puts it, “It’s our problem, and we fix it.”
That sense of responsibility has become part of how Tex-Tryk approaches its customers. The goal isn’t simply to complete an order, but to build relationships that last; something that has helped the company continue developing while maintaining the personal character of a family business.

– From Traditional Printing to Modern Solutions
Over the years, the way Tex-Tryk works has changed significantly. What once relied heavily on traditional printing and screen printing has developed into a more modern approach to textile printing, including DTF technology.
For Tex-Tryk, keeping up with new technology isn’t simply about having the newest machines. It’s about finding better and more flexible ways to turn a customer’s idea into a finished product. DTF, for example, makes it possible to produce detailed, colourful designs in relatively small quantities without the same setup required for traditional screen printing.
However, there isn’t one printing method that works perfectly for every project. The right solution depends on factors such as the design, quantity, colours, garment and what the customer ultimately wants to achieve.
Behind every finished print, there are also more considerations than might meet the eye. The fabric, colour of the garment, artwork, placement, temperature and pressure can all affect the final result. This combination of experience and technology is what allows Tex-Tryk to focus on the result rather than simply choosing the easiest printing method.
For the team, modern technology isn’t about replacing the knowledge built up over the years. It’s about using that knowledge alongside new possibilities to create better solutions for each customer.

– The Personal Touch
For Tex-Tryk, modernising the business doesn’t mean losing the personal side of it. If anything, personal service has become one of the things that matters most.
Customers don’t necessarily know which garment, printing method, size or design format will work best for their project, and they aren’t expected to. Instead of simply directing them to a webshop, Tex-Tryk takes the time to understand what they are trying to achieve and help them find the right solution.
Sometimes, that also means being honest. If a customer’s original idea isn’t the best option, the team would rather explain why before production begins than deliver something they know the customer won’t be happy with. That approach has helped build relationships based on trust rather than simply completing one order and moving on.
This is particularly important in an industry where ordering customised clothing can be as simple as uploading a logo and clicking “buy”. When something isn’t quite right, whether it’s the artwork, colours, sizing or print placement, having experienced people to talk to can make all the difference.
Looking ahead, Tex-Tryk wants to continue becoming more modern, efficient and stronger online. But the goal isn’t to become a faceless internet company. Technology should handle the repetitive work and create more opportunities to focus on customers, design, production and new ideas.
After five decades, the tools may have changed, but the principle remains simple: use technology to improve the experience, not to replace the personal connection.

– Looking Ahead
After 50 years, Tex-Tryk has changed with the printing industry, from traditional screen printing to modern textile printing and DTF technology. But the company’s core values have remained the same: personal service, honest advice and taking responsibility for the final result.
As Tex-Tryk looks to the future, the focus is on becoming more modern and efficient while keeping the personal connection that has always been at the heart of the business. For Tex-Tryk, technology is not about replacing people, it is about creating better opportunities to help customers, develop new ideas and deliver the right solution for every project.
Because in the end, printing is about more than putting a design on a garment. It is about understanding the person behind the idea and making sure the finished product is something they are happy with.
50 years on, the technology may keep changing. The personal touch stays.
